About Us

The West Virginia Civic Education Foundation is a nonprofit organtization dedicated to strengthening civic knowledge and participation across the Mountain State. We exist to empower educators, students, and everyday West Virginians with the tools, resources, and programs they need to understand our founding documents, civic rights and responsibilities, and the principles that sustain the rule of law. Rooted in clear, nonpartisan education, our work helps people turn knowledge into confident civic engagement.

We design and support high‑impact programs that bring civic learning into classrooms, community centers, and public forums. That includes curriculum support for teachers, student workshops and simulations, public seminars on constitutional principles, and resource partnerships that expand access to reliable civic materials. We also provide grants and collaborate with organizations whose missions align with our educational goals, ensuring that promising initiatives receive the backing they need to scale and succeed.

Stewardship and integrity guide everything we do. Organized to operate in accordance with charitable and educational nonprofit principles, we responsibly manage gifts, bequests, and contributions to maximize public benefit. Our governance and indemnification provisions protect the people who lead and serve the Foundation so they can focus on mission‑driven results rather than bureaucracy.

Join us in building a more informed, engaged West Virginia. Whether you are an educator seeking classroom resources, a community leader planning an event, or a donor who wants to invest in civic literacy, the Foundation is a practical, trusted partner committed to turning civic knowledge into civic action.
